Enterprising students from Balcarras School in Cheltenham held a Posh Car Boot Sale last weekend which we were only too happy to lend our support to.
Emma Wall, Tamsin Beech and Sophie Wall (pictured right) were raising money for their school expeditions to Malawi, Thailand and Laos.
As Tamsin explains:
“We needed to raise over £3,000 each for our expeditions. We thought a local car boot sale would be a great way to help raise funds.”
The girls will be carrying out community projects for charities in each country, including working in local schools and orphanages. Sophie Wall says:
“I am really excited about the opportunity of working with the local community in Malawi and making a difference”.
The Posh Car Boot Sale took place at Balcarras School in Charlton Kings on Sunday 14th September. As Emma said prior to the event:
“We’re hoping families will have a good sort out over the summer holidays and then make money out of their unwanted items”.
And indeed the families did not disappoint. As well as the usual bargain toys, clothes, books and home accessories, the girls added a few “posh” surprises that they had up their sleeves – to make the sale unique.
As well as sponsoring the event we provided the tea – our very own Builder’s Tea, naturally. It was a really fun event for the whole family that helped raise money for some good causes.
